How did you find A&J Realty Partners?
Judy – Actually, you helped my daughter and her husband find their house when they moved to Grand Rapids. They’re in Hudsonville now. So that’s, they rave about you. That’s why we came your way.
What did we do that made you glad you hired us?
Dennis – I think one of the most important things is that this was a very aggressive market. The supply was nowhere near the demand and April helped us navigate the reality of what we were facing because what we learned very quickly on is what the asking price is was nothing close to what the bid price had to be in order to be competitive. And I think April was honest with us and she helped us understand the nuances of the market.
What did we do best to help you in your search?
Dennis – One of the things we most appreciated is we gave April a printout of what we thought the ideal home was. And before we would take time to go out and look at the home, she helped screen, particularly, the vicinity but not just that, but the neighborhood and then, really, the specs of the home. And so, we found that our search was quite focused as opposed to getting inundation with a lot of homes that might not meet our criteria. And so, she helped screen for us and help target the listing that we found to be helpful. Then, prior to going out, we would typically ask her for her opinions, the neighborhood, the location, and she was very forthright in helping us understand some pros and cons of the listing.
Judy – I have to say too, that she had a very personal touch with us. We really, I really felt she was looking out for us. And there was one house where she actually said, “I don’t think that would be a good idea”, which you know, meant a lot. We’re ready to adopt her.
Dennis – The other thing she did that was very helpful, I was about ready to go crazy with a bid, on a gap, a dollar amount. And she questioned my sanity. She also questioned the bid. And I think, as it turned out, it was the correct call.
Judy – we appreciated that.
Dennis – Because we were into, I think, a panic mode, and she brought in a degree of professionalism to say, “Let’s stay real.” And so for me, that was always a very helpful moment.
